Ms. Danielle Aikens - Founder/Artistic Director
Ms. Danielle has been dancing for 34 years and playing piano for 32 years. During that time she founded the Northeast Georgia School of Music and Dance which has allowed her to share her passion for music and dance and have a positive impact on hundreds of students over the last 14 years. She is proud that NEGSMD is the charter member of More Than Just Great Dancing affiliated studios for the state of Georgia.
Mr. Justin Holland - School Director
Mr. Justin is the School Director of NEGSMD and has been leading the team for the past 14 years. Former Stage Manager for Savoyards Light Opera in Atlanta, he has been involved in productions of the Pirates of Penzance, Fiddler on the Roof, Kismet and more. He is passionate about inspiring kids to be the best that they can be and teaching them to give back to community.
Mr. Aaron James - Hip-Hop
Mr. Aaron has danced all over the country for many artists, major & independent, and has appeared on many movies and tv shows as both an actor and dancer. Some of his credits include : Pharrell, Little Big Town, CMT Awards & Jacob Latimore. Aaron is a founding member of "Royal Flush" and has appeared on MTVs "America's Best Dance Crew", as well as music video's with T-Pain. Mr.Aaron loves being in the studio, inspiring kids to work their hardest and never give up.
Mr. TJ Pattillo - Guitar Instructor
Ms. Lauren Whitaker - Voice Instructor
Lauren Whitaker is a senior BFA Musical Theatre student at Brenau University and The Gainesville Theatre Alliance. She started her classical vocal training at 16 and moved on to study opera and vocal pedagogy with Dr.Dawn Neely at the University of West Georgia before transferring to Brenau for her Junior year. Lauren currently holds an associates degree in theatre from the University of North Georgia. She has performed in groups such as The West Georgia Chamber Singers, Carrollton Orchestra and has been in a number of plays, operas and musicals. She is so excited for this year!
Mr. TJ has been teaching guitar since 1996. He was a Spivey Hall scholarship recipient and has performed everywhere from restaurants to stadiums to television. He enjoys spending time with his family and playing in his band Midnight Rodeo. TJ teaches guitar to share his passion for the instrument with his students.
Ms. Kaitlyn Batchelor - Tap & Musical Theater
Ms. Kaitlyn Batchelor has been dancing for 19 years and performing in shows for 16 years. She recently received a BFA in Musical Theatre from Brenau University. She performed in many shows with the Gainesville Theatre Alliance including, The Producers, Guys & Dolls, Chicago, Oklahoma, The Great Gatsby, and Mary Poppins. She was most recently the assistant choreographer for Once On This Island at the Gainesville Theatre Alliance. She has had the opportunity to work alongside several Broadway alums and a former rockette, allowing her to gain valuable knowledge to share with her students. She looks forward to working with the students at Northeast Georgia School of Music and Dance and watching them grow as dancers, as well as helping them become the best performer they can be!
Mallory is a Vermont native who moved to Atlanta in 2012. She holds a B.A. in Theatre, Music and Non-Profit Management and is currently pursuing her M.S. in Nutrition. Since relocating to Atlanta, Mallory was been awarded a scholarship to Gotta Dance Atlanta and was named the Dance Canvas Drawing Board Choreographer for 2015. She has presented many works at Emerging: New Choreographers Workshop, Phazes of Love, Mad Expressions and Vybez Showcase. Mallory is the choreographer for Dad's Garage Theatre Company. She has performed with Gathering Wild Dance Company, Zoetic Dance Ensemble, Collective Dance Project, Dad's Garage Theatre Company, Fabrefaction Theatre Company and in the world premiere of Stepp Stewarts Cindy the Musical.
Ms. Mallory Hazen - Jazz & Contemporary
Ms. Suzi Phillips - Contemporary Instructor
Suzi has had a passion for dance ever since her first class 15 years ago. She began training in ballet, modern, and Jazz at Collins Hill High School and performed in several dance shows throughout the years. After graduating she continued training at North Georgia Academy of Dance and Weber State University in South Ogden, Utah. Northeast Ga School of Music and Dance has been her dance home for seven years and now shares her love of dance through teaching and encouraging students to express themselves with movement.
Ms. Jamie Kendall-Evans - Ballet Instructor
Jamie began dancing at the age of five at Chattanooga Ballet in Tennessee. She danced, performed and became a member of the Chattanooga Ballet's Children's Company and the Corps de Ballet. During her last two years of high school, she furthered her training at Ballet Tennessee under the instruction of Barry Van Cura and Anna Baker Van Cura. Jamie graduated with a Bachelor in Fine Arts in Dance Education from Brenau University. Since graduating college, Jamie has been teaching students of all ages in the Northeast Georgia area where she resides with her husband of five years. Jamie is excited to be spreading her knowledge and joy of dance to others!
Ms. Candice Dela Rosa - Violin & Viola Instructor
Candice has played the violin for 15 years and taught for 10 years. She completed her bachelors degree in music at the University of North Georgia in 2012 under the tutelage of Valerie Gardner and Katie Otwell. During college, She taught students at Montessori Academy and at her private studio, and played at various events (weddings, restaurants, etc.). After graduating college she taught a handful of students for 6 months before moving to Gainesville where she works full-time at Riverside Military Academy.
Mr. Efrain Davila - Tap Instructor
Efrain began tapping at the age of 15. He has performed at the collegiate level as a lead tapper at the Gainesville Theatre Alliance in Gainesville, GA, with various professional artists. He has worked alongside David Rossetti, Jennifer Lee Crowl (National Tour of The Producers) and Barbara Hartwig. In Massachusetts he joined the Berkshire Theatre Group to assist in Mary Poppins and be the Assistant Box Office Manager. Efrain has a Bachelor's Degree in Theatre with an Emphasis in Musical Theatre. His passion is to live for others and be available for those in need.
