Catherine McCoy

Catherine was born and raised in Fayetteville, N.C. and began loving music at a very young age. She began taking piano lessons when she was seven years old and performed in recitals every year until she was 16 years old. She competed in Fine Arts Competitions in chorus, piano, and ensembles. In 6th grade she received third place in the state for piano duet competition. She then studied voice at Snyder Music Academy for two years and also studied theatre at Cape Fear Regional Theater. In 2010 she received her Bachelor of Arts in Music Performance from Toccoa Falls College. While there she studied under Marcia Little for voice and Dr. You Jou Lee for secondary in piano. She was a member of the Opera Workshop and performed in “Pirates of Penzance”. She performed in many events with chamber ensembles, ladies ensembles, and College choir with whom she toured with each year across the southeast. She taught piano and voice at the Ruth Marsden Prepatory School for two years before joining with the Ne Ga School of Music and Dance. Catherine greatly enjoys teaching music to students of all ages and emphasizes the importance of technique balanced with creativity.
